HONOURABLE MENTION
Song: STAY
Category: Singer-Songwriter

Someone asked me to describe my feelings for my sweetheart. It is so difficult to describe love. I told them that the first time I don’t feel the need to have a backup plan and I didn’t have a suitcase in the closet ready to go in case I wanted to leave. I know I am finally safe in his arms.

Song Lyrics

Stay
©Francine Honey (SOCAN)

Light’s coming in through the window,
I love watching you sleep
My head finds its way to your pillow,
Warm breath, heart beat
A lifetime to find you. I never knew
 Love could hold such peace

Chorus:
Stay, I’m gonna stay,
Not walkin’ away, this time
Safe in the arms of a good man,
Someone who stands by my side
Stay

We always found something romantic,
‘Bout a storm rolling in,
You’ll find me through lightings’ flashes,
When the dark comes in again

Thunder may shake us, Winds kick up dust
Make our whole world spin

Repeat Chorus
Bridge:
For the first time, I don’t have a suitcase packed
For the first time, no white flag or backup plan.
For the first time, I know down deep inside

Repeat Chorus

  1. This one is my favourite so far! I was really enjoying the acoustic version and then I played the audio studio version. OMG! I love it. The harmonies are brilliant. Gorgeous song.

    1. Thanks so much Arlene. Yes, the recorded versions are all fantastic. I love them all! Thanks for listening. Francine

  2. The love you have for your sweetie really comes thru in your music, how lovely, sitting here tonight listening to the tracks you have sent in the links to my email. I did not get a chance earlier, so glad I had time now. Life has not been great for me, family life has not been great, my mom is not well, Thanksgiving lunch was today with some of my family and it was a depressing day, so your music has lifted my spirits and warmed my heart.
Thank you, Happy Thanksgiving to you and all your loved ones.

  3. Like bittersweet chocolate… Am I the only one who finds this both a sad and at the same time a hopeful song? And it is lovely.

    1. Yes, Sheilah! It is sad when you think about my prior relationships. These make me appreciate what I have SO much more! Thanks for understanding!

  4. Hi Francine

Yes I can relate to this song for sure. It took me a little longer to find the love of my life and some days are harder then others but I know we are both here to STAY .

  5. Francine, this song makes me feel GLAD for the two of you, for what you’ve found together & such creative expression of it that resonates . . . those who can not only face the storms of life together, but find romance in sharing them? Priceless!

    1. Thanks Nancy. I am pretty happy about it too. We have always loved watching thunder storms and no matter what storm there is, you can see each other in the lightning strikes. Thanks for listening and for your comment! xo francine

    1. Thanks for the comment. That blue sparkly dress and the smoke was really cool and lended to the vibe of the song. It was great to have Dean, the bass player and Neilson the producer, videographer and drummer to be part of the video too. Get ready to sing and dance along for tomorrow’s song! Thanks for listening…xo francine

    1. Hey Kelly. Thanks so much. Yes, recording that song in Nashville with the gang was so much fun! That version is what I submitted to the Canada Songwriting Contest, along with some others, and it got into the semi-finalists list for all of Canada. With Jonatha and Casey. It will be released for a radio run. I’ll let you know when it is up for that. Big hugs….francine
