Snowflakes On My Eyelashes (feat. Beth Nielsen Chapman)
A song of grief and love.

Official Music Video: Dec. 7, 2018

From the album: to be continued…
Album Release: Oct. 12, 2018

I was visiting my Grandmama’s grave in January when I was a teen. I used to wear large glasses. It started to snow and somehow two huge snowflakes found their way onto my eyelash. Since then, I have always believed that a snowflake on my eyelash is a kiss falling from heaven. Thanks to Beth Nielsen Chapman for adding her beautiful voce to this song.

Snowflakes on eyelashes
Softly falling through the heavens
Find your name, underneath my glove
Etched in stone, “Rest in peace, my love”
Kisses from you falling from heaven
As snowflakes on my eyelashes

Snow is falling through the heavens
Softly landing, silent white blessings
Close my eyes, turn my face to the sky
Feel your kiss, angels granting my wish
Kisses from you falling from heaven
As snowflakes on my eyelashes

Breathing deeply, smell of pine
Nature’s incense, so divine
Feel you here, fingers wrapped in prayer
Lost in time, feel your body with mine
Kisses from you falling from heaven
As snowflakes on my eyelashes

Arms waving in the snow
Angels appearing in moonlight’s glow
Laying here I know you are near
Wish you’d stayed, Miss you everyday
Kisses from you falling from heaven
As snowflakes on my eyelashes

Snowflakes on eyelashes
I feel the kisses, you’re sending from heaven

In Memory Of Francina, Ken and Margie
These three people were in my heart when I wrote this song.

This is me with my Grandmaman Leroux. I am wearing her brooch and earrings in the music video. I sadly lost one of the earrings in the snow during the filming. I went back afterwards and was not been able to find it. The first time I had a snowflake fall on my eyelash was when I was visiting her grave.

My brother-in-law Ken lost his battle with brain cancer at the age of 32. He died on Dec 20, 1995. Christmas has never been the same. It snowed at his interment on Easter Monday. My sister is still in love with her husband after all of these years.

  1. Finally had time to listen to your songs today, love your music. Lots of your songs bring tears to my eyes, really enjoy the behind the scenes, always means so much more when you listen to the songs.

    1. Thanks so much Teresa! So glad that you are finding time to listen. I am so happy that you are enjoying the songs and much appreciate you sharing how the songs touch you. Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. Hi Francine
It brought back memories of family members who are now in heaven with our Lord. Our family lost to many cousins at a very young age and I know and believe that they are angels and come to us in many ways. Thank you for sharing your family with us. Love Mo

    1. Thanks Mo. Yes, there were a lot of cousins, I remember that. And you know how much we all loved Ken. Thanks for listening and sharing your story with us! xo francine

  3. Such a beautiful song Francine…I’m sure you must have great memories of your grandma….you can feel the love in your song.
I was not fortunate enough to know any of my grandparents as they we’re passed before I could know them. I always wonder what it would be like to have grandparents. You are truly blessed with feelings and talent. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thanks so much for sharing Kathy and for your kind words and sorry to hear you never got to meet your grandparents. I am sure they still send you kisses from heaven. We lived 2 hours away from my grandparents and didn’t see them that often. I relished my time with them. Like coming home. xo francine

  4. Francine, I remember hearing you sing this at Dale’s coffeehouse and I thought it was fabulous then, but watching the music video and hearing you sing it again certainly displays your talent. I happen to love the snow so it is one of my favourites already. I love the connection to your grandma as well.

  5. Most recent loss for me was my 64 yr old brother, Tim, a year ago July so of course very poignant for me with tears welling with freshly stirred memories, but also my mom, just 2006, and 3 of my 4 brothers ( 1 older 2 younger) have preceded me as well as my dad and my unborn twin . . . one other who will go unnamed & undesignated, but suffice it to say, Francine, your song is a comforter that blankets sharp edges with grace & mercy, my dear, thank you so much.

    1. Hey Nancy….wow, a lot of loss there. “comforter that blankets sharp edges with grace & mercy”….beautiful. Thank you for sharing your loss and big hugs. Francine

  6. Oh course this song was amazing. It brought a peaceful feeling to me, like when I’m floating on my back, looking at the sky and gently bobbing in the waves knowing I’m loved and being watched over. One of my favourite things when it is snowing hard with big fluffy snowflakes, on a MILD winter day, is standing still and staring up at the snow in the light – feels like I’m flying through space -so magical!

    1. Thanks Pat. You are such a poet yourself! That description was beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Love those big fluffy snowflakes. Thanks for listening!

  7. What a beautiful and touching song. And I love the harmony’s. I will think of loved ones passed when it snows now. Maybe I won’t hate snow so much? Yeah I still will!! Wonderful song and video Francine. Congratulations

    1. Thanks Arlene. Beth’s harmonies truly are amazing. Yes, I still don’t like to live with the snow or cold but when it snows, I do find it magical. Thanks for listening.

  8. Thank you Francine. Such beautiful words reminding me of many losses Pat Sean Kevin and Adam. You have a great gift.

    1. Oh Sheila. You have had SO much loss. May you have many snowflakes on your eyelashes this winter. All those kisses from heaven! Big big hugs…francine

    1. Your Gram was pretty amazing. I remember visiting her many times and who knew all these years later we’d still be friends. Thanks Michelle. Hugs.

  9. Francine, you have forever changed how I will think of snow flakes. Now I’ll hear your voice and this song when it snows. Very beautiful. As I read the lyrics and listened to the song, images of both my parents came to mind. Thank you.

    1. Thanks Sheilah! I am glad I recorded this song. It is interesting because I find dimes when there is no snow on the ground and then I will have snowflakes drop onto my eyelashes and I just look up and smile and say “Thank you for the kiss!”

    1. Yes! Your sister Pat was such a wonderful vibrant woman and I am so sorry for your loss. She went so quickly! This year of firsts will be a real challenge. We are all here for you Doris! Big big hugs out to you xoxo Francine

  10. Love the filming ….all of the out of focus shots adds to the Laid back Rhythm of the song..Backing Vocals by Beth Neilson Chapman are so silky smooth …the Haunting Violin ..and the Electric Guitar & Percussion Push the lilting Melody along beautifully …fine Songwriting…so proud of you rwork & vision for this Song… Dale Butler ??

    1. Thanks so much for the thoughtful post Dale and for all of your support since I’ve known you. I can’t wait to share this video with the world in December. I hope it helps people who are having a BLUE Christmas.

  11. This brought me to tears. My Mom has a terminal illness and I live where there is a lot of snow and this song will stay with me now after she passes.

    1. Hi Jill. Thanks for telling us about your Mom. You are going through a very challenging time. I know saying that you are in my thoughts may seem empty but as I read your message, I have tears and empathy for what you are going through. It is so hard watching life fade. I have done it too many times as have many of us here. You are not alone! Big hugs. xo francine

  12. Hey Francine,
My daughter and I are listening together to your song before we get going for the day. I did not realize I was crying until later in the song remembering my own grand-parents who have all passed away. The quality and variation in your voice is really interesting in this song. The cadence is perfect and gives your imagination time to wander back through my own teenage memories with loved ones. I think this is my fav ourite winter song!

    1. Thank you Chantal. A pretty heavy subject to discuss with children all be it an important one. I am waiting to release this video until December because I am hoping it will really touch people over the Christmas holidays. And your “favourite winter song”…wow….truly humbled. xo fh

  13. This is one of my favorite songs on the album. It made me cry the first time I heard it driving home from Nashville! I felt honored you let me get a first listen. I love how you are rolling this out. So proud of you!

    1. Thanks Kelly. Your support is so much appreciated. This song almost didn’t make it on the album. I sent it to Neilson as a “well, I have this other song too but it probably is too depressing”. He called me within the hour and said it was one of his favourites and we HAD to record it! I did a bit of a re-write based on feedback I got from Gretchen and Mike. Hugs to you from Canada.

    1. Thanks Marie. Beth has been such an influence and mentor. It was such a gift to have her voice on this song. Neilson Hubbard and Joshua Britt and the entire crew made this video happen. It am thrilled with it. So glad you enjoyed it!

  14. Wow, this song is beautiful! Love grandmas picture.!Thinking of my dad, Rolland, that is now with grandma Leroux. Big hug to you to take us back in memory lane. I’m sitting at the airport!

    1. Oh wow! That must have been hard to watch at the airport! So glad you enjoyed this song and I miss your Dad and my godfather too. 🙂
