Shacked-Up Sweetie… A fun song of love, commitment and sassiness

Official Music Video: Feb 10, 2019

Album Release: Oct. 12, 2018

I wrote this song for my sweetie and I. We talked about getting married and decided not to. It took me a while to work through my feelings about not getting married, but in the end, I realized that it’s really all about the commitment you make to each other, not the church ceremony.
True love is just bigger than all of that.

Song Lyrics

Shacked-Up Sweetie

We don’t need an age-old institution,
Certifying us as husband and wife
A gray-haired preacher, and a ceremony,
Is not required, to keep our love alive

CHORUS:
Shacked-up sweeties, I’m your woman not the wife
You’re not my old man, You keep me rockin’ all night
We are shacked up sweeties, together for life

In this world of online dating and mating,
We could have found lovers any-where
When you asked me out, I called you crazy,
Good old friends, in a lifelong love affair

Repeat Chorus
Don’t go thinkin; that I’m gonna leave you,

‘cause I don’t wear a wedding ring
The love we have’s the best we’ve ever known,
And when I see you, my heart still does that thing

Repeat Chorus
You’re my shacked-up sweetie,
I’m gonna love you for life

  1. I m 75 and I love it! The song the feelings everything. I just told my sweetie marriages are made in the heart and broken in the heart . He can still rock my world and keep it rocking. Don’t need the church just love

    1. Thanks so much for sharing and leaving this note! Seems like it is working for you and you are still together and that is so encouraging. What is your secret?! xo Francine

  2. YII HAA is right. Such a fun song and so true! I love the changes in voice tone – you and your beautiful voice have come a long way!

  3. I may be a bit late with my entry today, but for sure I’d love that extra CD to giftaway (Her-haw, love your version of this “expletive” lol)

    Feeling? Love the danciness, rhythm, tempo, etc. . . . just got my first comfy cowboy boots & thrilled to see them work with a dress (!);
however, a wee bit ambivalent (my heart) as I get referred to as “the wife” quite a bit (and never liked it)

    1. Hi Nancy…Thanks for the feedback on the song. I am SO glad you enjoyed it. Yes, get those cowboy boots out. It is boot season! I never liked being referred as “THE” wife….obviously the reason I chose that lyric for the song. Keep entering the giveaway contests. The earlier the better as far as entries go for a chance to be one of the firsts with the correct answer. xo Francine

  4. Cute song. My old man ? I have my cd coming from the first day. Walking to school together when we couldn’t sign our name to receiving your autographed cd. Life has jumped too fast.

    1. Oh Michelle, I know it is unreal isn’t it how life takes twists and turns. So happy to send you the CD you won the other day! You can enter the giveaways more than once. You may want to give a CD to someone for Christmas! Make sure you enter the contest.
      xo Francine
